How to Layer Fragrance

How to Layer Fragrance

Written by Olivia Olsen

Did you know you can make your favorite fragrance last the whole day with a few simple changes in your routine? Layering your fragrances is a great way to create a whole world of possibilities for your signature scent.

The Vaseline hack made waves online in 2024 letting people increase projection and longevity in their fragrances. Although it’s helpful, as long as you keep your skin moisturized, you’re already doing the brunt of the work! Here are a few tried-and-true layering methods to feel your best:

Solid Scents

Solid fragrances have been around as far back as Ancient Egypt. It’s a great way to smell good on-the-go without worrying about scents spilling in your bag.

Our Solid Scent Palettes offer up a new way to layer, whether you’re trying to play around with innovative scents or want a subtle sillage all day long! You can customize your palette with a Core Scent and two accords from our selection. Hunter with Vanilla and Sandalwood alongside Agarwood and Chai creates a luxurious base for any scent in your collection.

Two — or More — Fragrances

Yes, you can layer scents you already own to create a completely new fragrance. The most popular ways to layer sprayed scents are to spritz them on the same spot — like your wrist — or picking different parts of your body for each fragrance.

Spray Dylan with Peach, Nectarine and Apricot on your elbows and behind your shoulders, and put Lulu with Magnolia and Orange Blossom for an unforgettable fragrance combo. Jayden with Indian Jasmine and Bois de Rose spritzed with Riley and Clearwood, Orris and Sage is our go-to clean scent pairing.

Body Products

If you want to lock in your favorite fragrance, emollient and occlusive moisturizers are the way to go. Occlusives like lotions hold the moisture that’s already on your skin and act as a strong base for whatever scents you spray on top.

Want a softer layer? Body washes are best — Ashton with Fig, Cypress and Cedarwood leaves a lingering fresh scent once you’re out of the shower. Use both scented body wash and lotion as an effective first step before lotion and spraying your eau de parfum.
